Volunteering

Everything Fusion accomplishes depends on everyday people choosing to step forward and contribute to our shared mission. When dedicated, passionate individuals come together as a community, they possess the genuine power to transform the world around them.

Our impact exists because people like you choose to get involved, demonstrating that meaningful change occurs when ordinary citizens unite behind a shared purpose.

Joining Fusion as a volunteer connects you with a community of like-minded individuals united in creating thriving environments where young people can flourish. Together, we’re building transformed communities through collective action and shared vision.

Volunteering with us offers opportunities to develop new skills, expand your experience and knowledge, while playing a central role in crafting innovative solutions to real community challenges. You’ll be directly involved in making a tangible difference in the lives of young people and young families.

We’d love to hear from you if any of our current opportunities align with your interests and availability. If nothing seems like the right fit today, we encourage you to check back regularly as new volunteer roles emerge frequently.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: All volunteers must obtain a Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check before commencing their role with us.

Onsite Housing
Shift Workers

As a shift worker with Fusion Mornington Peninsula, you’ll join a dedicated team committed to enhancing the lives of young people in our housing service. This role places you at the heart of creating positive change in the daily experiences of young people.

Your primary function involves serving as the accessible support person for residents during your shift. You’ll facilitate community connections, provide leadership to tenants, and help maintain the safe, welcoming atmosphere that defines our housing environment.

Beyond direct youth engagement, you’ll support our broader team through essential daily housekeeping and administrative duties. The role also includes contributing to Fusion’s Living Skills Program, where you’ll work alongside young people on practical activities like meal preparation, building their independence and confidence.

Your position as a mentor carries significant influence in the lives of these young people. This means actively demonstrating the behaviours and values that exemplify healthy, productive living, serving as a positive role model through your actions and approach.

Shift arrangements are flexible, typically involving one shift per week or fortnight. Available shifts run 10am–4pm or 4pm–10pm, Monday through Sunday, scheduled in consultation with our housing coordinator to suit both service needs and your availability.

Your role centres on providing positive role modelling to guide young people toward making constructive choices and developing a healthy lifestyle. Through everyday community participation and shared household responsibilities, you’ll play an essential part in delivering our Living Skills training program.

This mentoring approach occurs naturally through shared experiences, from daily routines to household management, creating authentic opportunities for young residents to observe and learn productive life patterns.

Accommodation includes your own furnished bedroom within a shared living environment, with access to communal bathroom facilities. This arrangement fosters the community atmosphere essential to the program’s success.
